Jaguar Display Day at Busselton
Friday 3rd April 2020
Incorporating optional Jetty / Undersea Observatory or Wine Tours
On Friday morning after breakfast at about 9am we will drive the short distance from the Abbey Beach Resort to Signal Park where we will display our Jaguars to the public for the day. Signal Park is well located on the foreshore close to the Busselton jetty and also the main street of Busselton. The beautiful beach and foreshore area overlooks the Indian Ocean and is well serviced by the restaurants and shops nearby.
There will be a considerable number of tourists and visitors in the Busselton area at this time of the year and we are sure to have a good number of people inspect our Jaguars whilst they are on display. We will have a number of club members rostered to maintain a security watch on the cars so delegates can enjoy themselves looking at the local attractions.
A number of awards will be made for cars on display including the Bunbury Jaguar Award and the People’s Choice Award. These awards will be presented during the farewell dinner in the Abbey Beach Resort ballroom on the Friday evening.
Just a short walk across the park to the foreshore is the Busselton Jetty which extends 1.8 kilometres over the protected waters of Geographe Bay. The heritage listed jetty is the longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere and the second longest in the world. Situated at the end of the jetty is an underwater observatory situated about 8 metres below the ocean’s surface. It enables visitors to discover the natural wonders where the jetty piles have created Australia’s greatest artificial reef which is host to an awe-inspiring forest of vividly-coloured tropical and sub-tropical corals, sponges, fish and invertebrates. It is recommended that you take the opportunity to enjoy the Jetty and Undersea Observatory tour. Take the train to the end of the jetty and the guided tour of underwater observatory whilst your car is on display. This tour can be booked and paid as part of your Rally package, refer to the rally website link ‘Jetty tours’.
Alternatively you may like to take a small bus guided wine tour of the Margaret river wine region whilst your car is on display. The bus will pick up from Signal Park at 10.00am for an approximately 4.5 hour tour to a number of wineries returning to signal park around 2.30pm to 3.00pm, a light lunch will be provided. Click to watch a video of the Margaret River region https://youtu.be/1x-iKzDUFrM Please refer to the website Events page to book and pay for your tour.
There is also much to do around the area whilst the cars are on display, take a walk along the foreshore or a walk down the main street of Busselton and enjoy one of the many places to have a coffee or lunch.
It is requested that cars be left on display at Signal Park until about 2.30pm please.
Busselton Jetty and Undersea Observatory Tour
Whilst your car is on display at the Jaguar National Rally display day at Signal Park on the Busselton foreshore on Friday 3rd April you may like to take a tour of the highly recommended Busselton Jetty and Undersea Observatory which is only a short walk from Signal Park.
Walk to the Interpretive Centre, located at the base of the jetty where your tour will begin at your nominated time slot. Your tour will start with a relaxing train ride on the Stocker Preston Express along the 1.8km length of the jetty with 360-degree views across the Indian Ocean. One of the friendly guides will greet you at the end of the jetty to guide you through the Underwater Observatory.
As you descend the 8 metres below the ocean’s surface you will be led through the natural wonders that lie beneath the jetty where its piles create Australia’s greatest artificial reef host to an awe-inspiring forest of vividly coloured tropical and sub-tropical corals, sponges, fish and invertebrates.
The Undersea Observatory is a leading tourist experience in the South West and it was recognised as a joint winner in the 2019 WA Heritage Awards.
There are six flights of stairs within the Observatory - however there is a lift which allows access for the mobility impaired.
Access to the Observatory is only available via a guided tour and reservations have been made for National Rally delegates who wish to undertake the tour.
You may book and pay for your tour on the National Rally website.
The discounted cost of the tour is $31 per person (inclusive of senior’s discount)
Choose your tour time, the two times booked for National Rally delegates are 10am and 11am. The tour takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete.
Margaret River Wine Tour
A customised wine tour has been organised for delegates who would like to choose this option whilst their cars are on display at Signal Park in Busselton on Friday 3rd April.
The tour will be run by ‘Margie’s Big Day Out Wine Tours’ who are a well-known wine tour group based in Margaret River. A dedicated small bus will be provided for Jaguar Rally delegates which will pick you up at 10am from Signal Park after you park your car for the display day and return you to Signal Park at around 3pm.
As this bus will be dedicated to Jaguar Rally delegates there is some flexibility in the programme depending on people’s preferences, but essentially the tour will visit four family owned wineries who produce recognised quality wines only sold at the cellar door.
There are over 100 wineries in the area with cellar door sales so those visited by the local small tour companies are known by them to provide quality wines well worth tasting and purchasing. It is unlikely that you would find these wineries when just touring the area by yourself.
A light lunch is included - we have anticipated people would prefer a light lunch as the Rally Final Dinner will be held that night at the Abbey Beach Resort.
There will be some flexibility to modify the tour with your tour guide to say visit the Yallingup cheese factory or the Margaret River chocolate factory as the bus group may prefer. It will be a great day!
A number of the National Rally organising committee will remain with the cars on display at Signal Park whilst you enjoy the tour.
The cost of the tour, including a light lunch is $60 per person. Book and pay on the Jaguar National Rally website and wear your Rally lanyard for identification on the day.
